I’ve been wrestling with how leaders lead those they lead. I’m leaning toward these three ways:
in those we lead.
As Paul argues in Colossians 1, leaders do that when they make known among the world that Jesus is everything and then help everyone in all wisdom become mature in Christ. And leaders do it in such a way that “they decrease and Jesus increases” in the created “meaning, value and community” of those who are led.
This morning I ran across the following quote related to “creating meaning” and the accompanying video.
“Meaning is not something that you stumble across, like an answer to a riddle or a prize in a treasure hunt. Meaning is something you build into your life. You build it out of your own past, out of your affections and loyalties, out of the experience of humankind as it is passed on to you, out of your own talent and understanding, out of the things you believe in, out of the things and people you love, out of the values for which you are willing to sacrifice something. The ingredients are there. You are the only one who can put them together into that unique pattern that will be your life.” -Anonymous
